We arrived at Split airport where we cleared customs and security with ease, we were then greeted by Daniela who was our tour and cruise guide. The transfer from airport to the harbour was only around 30 minutes by coach. I boarded the MV Moonlight, which is a beautiful cruise ship, the cabins were spacious and located on both lower and higher decks. My cabin was situated on the lower deck towards the front of the cruise ship. The dining onboard the ship was shared dining, ideal for solo travellers to meet other like-minded people. Travelsphere’s sister customer Just You have specific departures for their sole travellers.

In the evening at dinner, Daniela ran through the safety procedure and various questions that we had. The food we were served was superb and was even accompanied by local wines of the region. That evening we set sail for Korcula around 5.30pm.

The following morning due to travelling out of season we had a very stormy day, so we were able to take advantage of the wonderful breakfast and lunch served onboard the cruise ship. We arrived in Korcula by early afternoon which was followed by a guided walking tour which was very informative. Korcula is famously known as the birthplace of Marco Polo, as well as being invaded by Romans, Turkish, Venetians, Germans and the British. Surrounding the island was wonderful architecture and an abundance of small churches. We then continued onto Dubrovnik for the next few days.

We reached the picturesque island of Hvar which is said to be the sunniest part of Europe. Hvar is an ancient town steeped in history, the island has a beautiful Piazza, surrounded by Venetian stone buildings. There are 182 steps up the fortress, looming over the town and lit with a golden glow at night. There are trendy bars and vibrant summer nightlife. We were then docked overnight at the harbour.

The journey time from Hvar back to Split was quite short and was only 3 hours by ship. We had a farewell dinner onboard for our last night, which was traditional Dalmatian dishes. The next morning, we had an early breakfast and check out. Our luggage was taken to a secure holding which was arranged by Travelsphere and meant that we could spend some free time in town before getting ready for our flight.

Would I come back to Croatia?
Most certainly yes!
Thank you Travelsphere for the opportunity to see such a beautiful country....
