After a very short EasyJet flights form Stansted I arrived at Amsterdam airport to be met by Jamie & Joanne from AMA Waterways along with a few of my traveling companions. We were transferred by coach to central Amsterdam to board the beautiful AMAKristina. After a warm welcome we were checked in and taken to our staterooms. I have category CA – French Balcony Stateroom which was very well designed to maximise space and enjoy the panoramic views.
A light lunch was served in the main lounge, followed by free time to embark on a self-guided tour of the ship to view the various cabin options, facilities onboard and concluded a visit to the “Wheelhouse” or Bridge as I know if from ocean ships.
At 5pm we had a mandatory safety and information briefing and welcome cocktail party in the main lounge before setting sail Lelystad.
Our wondeful La Chaîne des Rôtisseurs welcome dinner was served in the main restaurant at 6:30pm this was followed by Matt Williams a guest entertainer in the main lounge and then a DJ into the early hours.
I woke up feeling well rested and refreshed from a good night sleep and went to the main restaurant for breakfast which offered a choice of table service or buffet selection.
At 9am we all left the ship for our chosen inclusive excursion – I opted for the Koggerwerf Ship yard visit and walking tour of Kampen. The ship yard is home to the Kamper Kogge the oldest reconstructed sailing vessel in the Netherlands. It is an exact reconstruction of the authentic Cog from 13th Century. The Cog is the first sea worthy CORGE ship of the middle ages. We also where shown a medieval fisherman’s cottage and old-fashioned tavern. We returned to the ship for lunch and then were split into 2 groups for afternoon workshops hosted by Stuart Perl MD & Jamie Loizou Sales, Marketing & Digital Director.
The evening started with a farewell cocktail reception followed by a delicious dinner “Dress to Impress” elegant and dapper party night.
After enjoying another lovely breakfast, it was time to say bon voyage to the AMAKristina, her Captain and hrew. A good time was had by all.
This trip gave me an excellent opportunity to experience a luxurious river cruise first hand and help me confidentially sell this in the future....Back To Blog
